Supported Independent Living โ Your Home, Your Way
Skilled, consistent 24/7 support in a home you love โ matched to your personality, your culture, and your goals. Not a programme. Your life.
About Supported Independent living
A home of your own โ with the right support around you
Supported Independent Living (SIL) is NDIS funding for the support you need to live in your own home โ not for the home itself. It means skilled, rostered support workers available when you need them, helping with daily tasks, personal care, and building your independence over time.
Pacific Community Care SIL is built entirely around you. We work carefully to find the right house, the right housemates if shared, and the right support team โ matched to your personality, your culture, your communication style, and your goals.
Understanding the Support
What is Supported Independent Living?
SIL is NDIS Core Support funding for participants with high support needs who require help with daily living to live in a home of their own. It covers support workers โ not rent โ and can be delivered in a Pacific Community Care house, your own rented home, or a shared arrangement.
The goal is always to support your growing independence โ not to create dependence.
Who is this for?
- NDIS participants who need daily or 24/7 support to live outside of family or institutional care
- People who want to live independently but need skilled support workers present regularly
- Participants transitioning from hospital, residential care, or a family home for the first time
- People seeking a culturally safe, community-connected living arrangement

FAQs
Your questions answered .
Common questions about supported independent living (sil) from Pacific Community Care.
What's the difference between SIL and ILO?
SIL is a more structured, often shared-living arrangement with rostered support, typically used when you need help across most parts of daily life. ILO is more flexible and tailored, often for people who want their own arrangement and may only need partial support. We can talk through which one your plan supports.
Do I have to live with people I don't know?
No. SIL can be in a single-occupancy property or a shared home you choose to enter. We never place participants together without trial visits and clear conversations about compatibility, lifestyle, and house rules.
Can my family still be involved?
Absolutely. Many of our SIL participants have very active family involvement in care planning, regular visits, decision-making, and emergency support. SIL doesn’t replace family; it adds to your support network.
How do I know if my plan funds SIL?
Look for a ‘Supported Independent Living’ line item under Core supports in your NDIS plan. If you’re not sure, send us a copy of your plan and we’ll walk through it with you no obligation.
