Community Access โ Your Community, Your Life
Getting out, connecting, and participating โ with skilled, matched support workers who genuinely enjoy helping you explore everything your community has to offer.
About Community Access
Connection is at the heart of living well
Community access is about more than just getting somewhere. It is about belonging โ being an active, valued participant in the places and activities that matter to you.
Our support workers do not direct your community access sessions. They accompany you, assist you, encourage you, and celebrate your growth โ whether that is trying a new activity for the first time or building confidence to attend independently.
Understanding the Support
What is NDIS community access?
Formally known as Assistance with Social, Economic and Community Participation, this is NDIS Core Support funding that helps you engage meaningfully with the world outside your home โ social events, recreation, education, volunteering, appointments, shopping, and much more.
Community access support is a skilled worker alongside you, reducing barriers to participation and actively building your independence over time.
Who is this for?
- NDIS participants who want to engage more actively with their local community
- People who need physical, social, or cognitive assistance to participate in activities outside the home
- Individuals working towards community participation goals in their NDIS plan
- Participants who want to try new activities or build local connections
“At Pacific Community Care, every support is built around the person โ not a programme. You tell us what matters; we make it happen.”

FAQs
Your questions answered .
Common questions about community access from Pacific Community Care.
What's the difference between centre-based and 1:1 community access?
Centre-based programs run from a fixed location with a group โ good for routine and social mix. 1:1 community access is one worker, one participant, out in the actual community. Many of our participants do both.
Do you cover transport and entry costs?
Worker travel time and travel costs are usually claimable from your plan, with some rules. Activity costs (event tickets, class fees) are generally yours to pay, but some plans include funds for these. We’ll be clear about what’s covered.
Can a worker support more than one of us at the same time?
Yes โ if you and a friend with similar goals want a shared 1:2 outing, that can work and stretches the funding. We coordinate this carefully.
What if I don't know what I want to do?
That’s the most common starting point. The first few weeks are about gentle exploration โ local trips, low-pressure trials, lots of “would you ever?” conversations.
