How Long Do NDIS Payments Take?

How long do NDIS payments take

Waiting for NDIS payments can feel confusing, especially if you’re new to the system. The timeframe depends on how your plan is managed — Agency Managed, Plan Managed or Self-Managed.

Agency Managed (NDIA Managed)

If your plan is Agency Managed, you don’t have to worry about payments at all. Your provider makes a claim through the NDIS portal and the NDIA pays them directly. This usually takes 24 to 48 hours once lodged.

Plan Managed

If you’re with a Plan Manager, your provider sends their invoice to the Plan Manager, who then processes it through the portal. Payments are usually completed within 3 to 5 business days, depending on how fast the Plan Manager acts.

Self-Managed

If you manage your own plan, you’ll pay out of pocket first and then claim the amount back through the myNDIS portal or app. Reimbursements are typically processed within 24 to 48 hours, though in rare cases it may take up to 7 days.

Key Tip

To avoid payment delays:

  • Make sure invoices are correct and itemised

  • Use registered providers where possible

  • Follow NDIS pricing guidelines

At Pacific Community Care, we help our participants understand their payment flow and ensure claims are processed smoothly — so your support is never held up by paperwork.
